Idea of Exhibition

The Idea of an Exhibition – slipping in and out of structures

How do exhibitions create new kinds of cultural spaces, slipping between institutions and more temporary, mobile kinds of practices? How do they act as temporary hosts for ideas and activities? How might the practice of curating operate within the research environment? Temporary Host has invited several writers and curators currently connected to ICFAR projects to contribute short prompts and provocations to begin the discussion.

This table will be hosted by Afterall managing editor Pablo Lafuente, who will introduce Afterall’s new research and publications project, which looks at contemporary art exhibitions as cultural artifacts that shape the way that art is experienced and, ultimately, produced. The presentation will discuss questions related to both the archival part and the critical/analytical side of the project, specifically in relation to its main output (in the form of books).

Discuss this topic on the Temporary Host forums.
